Paul A Lyons Obituary, Death; – A Decatur man who lost his life in a crash in Decatur on Friday has been named.
The Macon County Coroner has identified the deceased as 68-year-old Paul A. Lyons from Decatur. The two-vehicle collision occurred shortly after 3 p.m. at the intersection of W. Rock Springs Road and Westgate Drive.
According to police, a PT Cruiser was stationary in the eastbound lane of W Rock Springs Road, facing west. It suddenly turned right across the westbound lane towards a driveway, at which point a Chevrolet truck traveling westbound collided with the side of the vehicle.
Inside the truck were two men: an 18-year-old driver and a juvenile passenger. Both were transported to the hospital with minor injuries. Lyons, the driver of the PT Cruiser, succumbed to his serious injuries after being taken to the hospital.
Authorities report no evidence suggesting that the truck driver was under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The investigation remains ongoing.
