Nathan Ha Obituary, Death; – A 12-year-old boy killed by a teen driver on Long Island this week has been identified by police as middle school student Nathan Ha.

The tragic incident occurred in Flower Hill on Monday shortly after 6:30 p.m., when detectives said the child dashed across Middle Neck Road near Northern Boulevard without using a crosswalk and was hit by a Ford pickup being driven by an unidentified 18-year-old.

The driver remained at the scene of the crash and cooperated with investigators, according to police. Ha was transported to a hospital in critical condition and later pronounced dead.
A GoFundMe page launched by a friend of the victim’s family describes Ha as “a bright, kind-hearted, and joyful” seventh grader at Roslyn Middle School.

He had a twin sister and younger brother, according to the fundraiser that had brought in more than $70,000 as of Wednesday evening. While the GoFundMe claims the driver of the truck was speeding, Nassau County officials told the Daily News on Wednesday that “a thorough investigation by the Homicide squad concluded that no criminality was involved and no arrests were made.”
