Nasryth Antonio Funes,Eisleer Jose Castillo Gomez Obituary, Death; – The Copperas Cove Police Department has disclosed the identities of the two individuals who lost their lives in the tragic multi-vehicle accident in Copperas Cove.

Authorities have identified one of the victims as 21-year-old Nasryth Antonio Funes from Fort Hood, Texas, who was the driver of the vehicle deemed ‘at-fault.’ The passenger who also perished in the incident has been named as 27-year-old Eisleer Jose Castillo Gomez from Orlando, Florida.

The Copperas Cove Police Department responded to a multi-vehicle collision on U.S. Highway 190 at approximately 7:39 p.m. on Wednesday, August 27. Reports from callers indicated that one of the cars involved in the accident was engulfed in flames.

Emergency responders arrived at the location and commenced treatment for the injured while also working to extinguish the fires.

According to police reports, multiple individuals required medical assistance, with one being transported to the hospital via ambulance, another airlifted by helicopter, and one receiving treatment at the scene.
Authorities indicated that preliminary investigations suggest the accident occurred when a vehicle attempted to overtake another in a no-passing zone at a ‘high rate of speed,’ resulting in what police characterize as a ‘chain of collisions’ involving six vehicles.

The vehicle that attempted the overtaking maneuver lost control and collided with another vehicle traveling in the opposite direction, as per police accounts. The driver, now identified as Nasryth Antonio Funes, along with passenger Eisleer Jose Castillo Gomez, tragically died at the scene, according to law enforcement.

The highway was closed from South FM 116 to Old Copperas Cove Road while emergency personnel managed the situation. Police have since announced that the bypass has been reopened to traffic.

The Copperas Cove Police Department reported that those transported to the hospital are currently in stable condition.
