Morgan Andrew Hippchen Stone Obituary, Death; – The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) has formally charged 31-year-old Darrel David Nixon, a resident of Silver Spring, with involuntary manslaughter related to an assault that occurred in February outside a lounge in Bethesda, resulting in the death of 44-year-old Morgan Andrew Hippchen Stone.
According to MCPD, “On Saturday, February 15, 2025, at approximately 2:37 a.m., officers from the Montgomery County Police and personnel from Montgomery County Fire and Rescue responded to the 4900 block of Cordell Avenue, outside La Catrina Lounge, following reports of an assault. Upon their arrival, officers discovered an adult male, later identified as 44-year-old Morgan Andrew Hippchen Stone, unconscious and unresponsive in the street. He was subsequently transported to a local hospital due to severe head trauma.
Detectives from the Major Crimes Division were alerted and took over the investigation. Surveillance footage from the vicinity captured Hippchen Stone engaged in a dispute with an unidentified male. During this altercation, the suspect reportedly struck Hippchen Stone, resulting in him losing consciousness and collapsing to the ground.
As the investigation progressed, detectives identified 31-year-old Darrel David Nixon of Silver Spring as the individual responsible.
Hippchen Stone succumbed to his injuries on Sunday, March 9. The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner classified the death as a homicide on Tuesday, April 22, attributing it to complications arising from blunt force head injuries.
On Saturday, June 21, detectives secured an arrest warrant charging Nixon with involuntary manslaughter, and he was apprehended on Tuesday, June 24. Nixon was taken to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he was served with the arrest warrant and subsequently released on a $10,000 unsecured bond.
