Michael Casper Lewis Obituary, Death; – The California Highway Patrol is conducting an investigation into a deadly accident involving a bicycle and a tractor that took place Wednesday morning, northwest of Davis.
Officer K.C. Asvitt reported that the incident occurred around 8:15 a.m. on County Road 29, just west of Highway 113. The deceased has been identified as 52-year-old Michael Casper Lewis from Woodland, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
“According to initial findings, it appears that a tractor was heading east on County Road 29, near State Route 113, when it approached a bicyclist traveling in the same direction within the bike lane,” Asvitt stated in a press release. “For reasons yet to be determined, the tractor driver did not see the bicycle and struck it. Consequently, the bicyclist suffered injuries that led to their death.”
The CHP has identified the tractor operator as a 60-year-old man from Woodland. There is no indication that alcohol or drugs played a role in the accident, which is still under investigation, Asvitt noted.
