Marco A Velasquez-Sierra Obituary, Death;- During a violent Fourth of July weekend, over 50 individuals were shot and six lost their lives in Chicago, a well-known area for violent crime.
Numerous mass shootings and drive-by incidents contributed to the violence that transpired from midnight on Thursday, July 3, through Sunday night, as reported by ABC 7, which monitored the events.
On Saturday morning alone, a mass shooter injured four individuals, three of whom were critically hurt, in a drive-by shooting in the Little Village neighborhood of the city. Several suspects in an SUV opened fire on the victims while they were seated in their own vehicle, according to the report.
Hours later, two men were reportedly shot and killed in separate incidents. The first victim was a 46-year-old man who was shot dead while sitting in his vehicle in the Lake View neighborhood of the city. According to the report, police have apprehended a suspect in connection with that incident.
A 30-year-old man was subsequently found deceased with a gunshot wound to the head on the West Side of the city. Detectives are currently investigating, as per the report.
Within minutes on Friday night, police reportedly responded to a series of shootings, all occurring on Chicago’s South Side. A 36-year-old man named Marco A. Velasquez-Sierra was discovered dead with a gunshot wound to the head, according to the report, and no one is in custody regarding that shooting.
Simultaneously, two unidentified male suspects opened fire on a crowd, injuring seven individuals, two of whom were critically hurt.
Additionally, another male suspect shot a 16-year-old girl and a 35-year-old man. The girl, identified as Meeyah Smith, succumbed to a gunshot wound to the throat, as reported by ABC 7. No one is in custody following that incident.
Early Thursday morning, two women were shot, one of whom died, also in the South Side of the city. Both women were inside a residence when an unidentified male suspect allegedly attempted to rob them. Following a struggle, gunfire erupted. The deceased woman was 29 years old.
On the same morning, a 21-year-old man was reportedly shot dead in a drive-by shooting in South Side Chicago.
