Makenzie Shine,Elon Williams Arrested; – One individual lost their life and four others are facing legal charges following a fatal shooting incident over the weekend in the Midlands.
According to the Richland County Sheriff’s Department, 20-year-old Makenzie Shine, 18-year-old Sa’riya Green, 17-year-old Elon Williams, and a 15-year-old minor were all apprehended in relation to a shooting that occurred on Sunday evening at the intersection of Percival Road and Quail Run Lane.

They were informed that a vehicle had collided with a wall in the vicinity where a gunshot was heard. The vehicle involved in the incident was subsequently found, with the driver discovered deceased inside.
Deputies later learned that four suspects had fled the scene of the crash at the time the gunshot was fired. K-9 units from the RCSD were deployed, leading authorities to a mobile home park located on Percival Road.
The RCSD stated that its special response team was activated and issued several announcements for individuals inside to exit. The four suspects eventually surrendered, as reported by the sheriff’s department.
“The shooting stemmed from a drug deal that went awry,” the RCSD indicated in a statement. “The vehicle collision occurred due to the brakes failing when the victim was shot.”
All four suspects are facing murder charges, with Williams and the 15-year-old also charged with possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime. Shine, Green, and Williams were processed at the Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center, while the minor was taken to the Department of Juvenile Justice.
The RCSD further noted that Green was wearing an ankle monitor at the time of the shooting on Sunday. She had previously been charged with tampering with an electronic monitoring device in February and was subsequently released on bond.
