Lendzi Lakeman Obituary, Death; – A 23-year-old man is facing a charge of first-degree premeditated murder after investigators from the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office reported that he fatally shot his former girlfriend in Port St. John and subsequently barricaded himself inside a residence.

Tyjah Bellinger, a resident of Port St. John, has been charged in relation to the shooting death of 28-year-old Lendzi Lakeman, which occurred on Sunday, November 16. This incident led to a standoff at a home located on Dallas Avenue, concluding with Bellinger being apprehended without any further incidents, according to the sheriff’s office.

Sheriff Wayne Ivey expressed his gratitude on Facebook, stating, “I am extremely grateful for the swift actions of our patrol deputies that took Bellinger into custody.”

He added, “Our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the victim as they navigate this incredibly challenging time.”

Deputies were initially dispatched around 12:15 p.m. to respond to reports of gunfire in the 7000 block of Carlow Avenue in Port St. John. Upon arrival, they discovered a woman, later identified as Lakeman, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and bleeding, according to reports.

Lakeman was pronounced dead at the scene. Following this, deputies were able to trace Bellinger to a residence on Dallas Avenue after establishing a connection to the shooting.

Once Bellinger was taken into custody, homicide detectives interviewed potential witnesses and conducted a search of the area for evidence. It remains unclear whether the firearm used in the incident was recovered from the scene, and a motive for the shooting has not yet been disclosed.
