Kyla Walker Obituary, Death; – A driver reportedly fled the scene after colliding with and fatally injuring a pedestrian in southeast Austin on Sunday.
As per the Austin Police Department, officers were dispatched to the intersection of East Stassney Lane and Teri Road at approximately 6:29 p.m. on November 10, following reports of a vehicle-pedestrian accident. The pedestrian, identified as 39-year-old Kyla Walker, was declared deceased at the scene.
The vehicle involved did not remain at the location and departed, according to APD. This incident is currently under investigation as the 76th fatal crash in Austin for the year 2024, which has resulted in a total of 81 fatalities. In comparison, on the same date in 2023, there were 77 fatal crashes leading to 80 deaths.
Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the incident to reach out to APD at 512-974-8111 or to contact Crime Stoppers anonymously at 512-472-8477 or via austincrimestoppers.org. A reward of up to $1,000 may be offered for information that leads to an arrest.
