On September 26, the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department responded to reports of a shooting at a townhome complex located on Eastcrest Drive. Upon their arrival, officers discovered the lifeless body of 25-year-old Grier, who had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The first suspect, Fabio Funes, was promptly identified and apprehended. The following day, CMPD released a photograph of the second suspect, later confirmed to be Ramon Funes.
Ramon Funes was apprehended in Texas on October 2 and subsequently extradited to Mecklenburg County. Fabio Funes was denied bail during his initial court appearance, and an indictment was issued against him. Ramon Funes is anticipated to appear in court at 1:30 p.m.
