Kaisan Henderson Obituary, Death; – A grand jury chose not to indict a man from Seagoville on a murder charge related to a shootout that occurred in late April, as per court documents.
Larry Robertson, aged 51, was, however, indicted on a charge of Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Felon, as confirmed by the Dallas County District Attorney’s office to WFAA.
The charges arose from a daytime shootout in a Seagoville neighborhood that was recorded on video, as previously reported by WFAA.
According to the Seagoville Police Department, the victim was walking along the 2000 block of Canterbury Drive at approximately 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, April 27, when a black sedan passed by. The driver of this sedan turned onto the adjacent street, Fountain Drive, and halted in the middle of the road before exiting the vehicle with a rifle and opening fire on the victim, as stated by SPD.
The department reported that the victim returned fire before fleeing, but was ultimately shot by the suspect. The Dallas County Medical Examiner’s Office later identified the victim as 19-year-old Kaisan Henderson.
The suspect, identified by police as 51-year-old Larry Robertson from Seagoville, attempted to escape in the sedan, but was apprehended by responding officers, according to SPD. Seagoville PD noted that Robertson was the sole occupant of the vehicle, and officers discovered a loaded rifle inside the sedan.
WFAA interviewed a neighbor in the vicinity who experienced a bullet penetrate her daughter’s window. “Everything could have gone a different way, so I’m thankful my baby’s alive,” she remarked.
Upon the arrival of the police, SPD reported finding Henderson on the ground, bleeding and exhibiting clear gunshot wounds. Another individual was attempting to administer life-saving measures before officers took over, according to police. Eventually, SPD stated that an ambulance arrived and transported Henderson to a hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries.
On June 20, a Dallas County grand jury decided not to indict Robertson on the murder charge.
