Jordan Immanuel Obituary, Death; – Authorities have released the name of a man who was found shot to death in the middle of the street in a south Birmingham neighborhood over the weekend.

The Jefferson County Coroner’s Office on Tuesday identified the victim as Jordan Immanuel Davis. He was 30 and lived in Birmingham. The discovery was made Saturday morning on 24th Avenue South, just off the busy Green Springs Highway.

Sgt. Bryan Shelton said Birmingham police officers were notified about 6:30 a.m. They arrived to find Davis unresponsive and medics pronounced him dead on the scene at 6:26 a.m.

Residents told police they heard some kind of commotion and then heard the shots.
No arrests have been made. The case will be presented to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office to determine if charges will be filed. “Truly any homicide is a tragedy and so our hearts go out to the family,’’ Shelton said Saturday. “Our investigators will work to try to bring some closure to the family.’’

Davis is the city’s 131st homicide this year. Of those, nine have been ruled justifiable and two others happened in previous years, but the victims died in 2024. In all of Jefferson County, there have been 165 homicides, including the 131 in Birmingham. Anyone with information is asked to call homicide investigators at 205-254-1764 or Crime Stoppers at 205-254-7777.
