Johanna Yoleth Newsome,Daniel Newsome Obituary, Death; – The medical examiner has confirmed the identities of two individuals from a family of four who tragically lost their lives in a wrong-way collision on a Fort Worth highway early Sunday morning.
Johanna Yoleth Newsome, aged 29, and Daniel Newsome, aged 28, were pronounced dead at the scene of the incident on Northwest Loop 820 on October 27, as reported by the Tarrant County Medical Examiner’s Office. The identities of the two children who were in the vehicle with the couple have not yet been disclosed to the public.
The family was traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes of Northwest Loop 820 at approximately 3:30 a.m. when their Ford Focus collided with a pickup truck driven by Chelsea Cook, 33, and her fiancé, Evan Ranallo, according to police reports. Cook was killed in the accident, while Ranallo sustained serious injuries.
Following the collision, the Ford Focus ignited, trapping Johanna Newsome, Daniel Newsome, and the two children inside, as stated by law enforcement. Tracy Carter, a spokesperson for the Fort Worth Police Department, informed the Star-Telegram that investigators are actively working to ascertain the reasons behind the family’s wrong-way travel.
Authorities suspect that Johanna Newsome was operating the vehicle and entered the freeway in the incorrect direction at the Azle Avenue exit ramp. The Ford Focus continued to travel eastbound in the westbound center lane until the crash occurred. Carter also mentioned that a toxicology test on the driver may not be feasible due to the extensive damage caused by the fire.
The medical examiner’s website indicates that both Johanna Newsome and Daniel Newsome resided in Texas, although a specific city of residence has not been provided. Results from the autopsy regarding the cause and manner of death are still awaited. Police are urging anyone with information related to the crash to reach out to them.
