Jankar Araque-Ovalles Obituary, Death; – A man was fatally shot outside a restaurant in Marietta shortly after midnight on Friday, according to police reports.
Officers from Marietta were in proximity to the Costa Mar Seafood and Grill on Franklin Gateway when they heard a single gunshot. They promptly initiated a search for the origin of the sound and discovered a man suffering from a gunshot wound. The victim was later identified as 36-year-old Jankar Araque-Ovalles, a resident of Marietta.
The circumstances leading to the shooting remain unclear; however, Marietta police spokesperson Chuck McPhilamy indicated that an “incident” originated inside the restaurant before escalating to the parking lot and roadway.
Despite the officers’ efforts to save Araque-Ovalles, he succumbed to his injuries. Authorities have not disclosed any information regarding a potential suspect. For further updates, please refer to The Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
