James Robert Lopez Ayala Obituary, Death; – Authorities have identified the juvenile who tragically lost his life in a crash in Central Southwest Houston on Saturday night. The victim, James Robert Lopez Ayala, was a 14-year-old who died after his vehicle collided with a tree in the 3800 block of W. Fuqua. Ayala was a passenger in a gray Buick Enclave alongside two other juveniles.
According to police reports, the Buick veered off the road, struck a tree in the median, and then returned to the roadway before coming to a halt. The 16-year-old driver and the 14-year-old front-seat passenger fled the scene but later returned, while Ayala remained trapped in the back seat. Investigators indicate that the driver lost control of the vehicle for reasons that are currently unknown.
The 16-year-old driver has been taken into custody and charged with failure to stop and render aid. The Harris County District Attorney’s Office is currently reviewing the incident and may also charge the two surviving juveniles with failure to stop and render aid.
