James Lee Mayo,Emily Grace Mayo Obituary, Death; – A 9-year-old girl and her father were discovered deceased in a vehicle at a well-known park in Georgia. On May 27, law enforcement officials responded to a report concerning an unresponsive child confined within a car at Brooklet City Park, as stated in a news release.
Upon their arrival, officers located a child, identified as 9-year-old Emily Grace Mayo, lifeless in the backseat with what appeared to be a gunshot wound. In the front seat, authorities also found her father, 37-year-old James Lee Mayo, with what seemed to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. A handgun was located on his lap, according to officials.
Both bodies have been transported to the GBI’s examination laboratory in Pooler. Members of the community are expressing a desire to establish a memorial for Emily Grace at the park in the near future.
