James Burns Obituary, Death;- Authorities have confirmed that one individual lost their life in a collision that occurred on I-10 eastbound early Friday morning.
The incident took place just before 1:30 a.m. when a tractor-trailer traveling east near mile marker 171 struck a pickup truck that was heading west in the eastbound lanes. Following the impact, both vehicles were consumed by flames, according to the Louisiana State Police.
James Burns, a 39-year-old resident of Amite, was fatally injured in the crash. He was not wearing a seatbelt and was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the semi-truck, who was wearing a seatbelt, sustained moderate injuries and was transported to the hospital.
I-10 eastbound was closed for several hours but was reopened around 6:40 a.m.
