Jakaiden Rynearson Obituary, Death; – Jakaiden Rynearson, a 20-year-old resident of Peoria, has been confirmed as the individual who passed away on Tuesday after nearly two months of hospitalization following a shooting incident that occurred on August 11.
Rynearson was attempting to assist her neighbor, Zaneta Winters, 35, during a domestic dispute involving Winters and her boyfriend, Stevie Linwood. During this altercation, Linwood is alleged to have shot both women, resulting in their injuries.
According to court documents, the domestic dispute between Linwood and Winters stemmed from accusations of infidelity at their residence located on the 3400 block of North El Vista Avenue. When Rynearson intervened to aid Winters, she sustained multiple gunshot wounds, as reported by Peoria County Coroner Jamie Harwood. Winters was discovered lying in a doorway with a gunshot wound to the back of her head, while witnesses indicated that Rynearson was found in front of the house with gunshot injuries, with Linwood reportedly standing over her.
Winters was declared brain dead the day following the shooting, whereas Rynearson endured a prolonged hospitalization, which Harwood described as a “continuous heroic fight.” Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries at the OSF Richard L. Owens Hospice Home at 1:21 a.m. on Tuesday.
Linwood is currently incarcerated at the Peoria County Jail, facing trial on two counts of first-degree murder, along with one count each of attempted murder, aggravated battery, and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon. As of Wednesday morning, no additional charges have been filed against him.
A GoFundMe campaign initiated by Autumn Palmer, Rynearson’s mother, aims to cover travel and funeral expenses. The campaign indicated that Rynearson’s health had significantly declined over the past two months, leading to plans for her transfer to hospice care just days before her passing.
