Jack Saunders Obituary, Death; – The individual who lost his life following a motorcycle accident in Chesterfield in early November has been recognized as a law student from the University of Richmond, and he was the son of the proprietor of the Virginia Texas Inn restaurant franchise.
The tragic incident occurred in the evening on November 7, along Otterdale Road, as reported by the Chesterfield County Police Department.
The victim’s family has identified him as 23-year-old Jack Saunders, who graduated from James Madison University in May 2025 and had commenced his first year of law studies at the University of Richmond’s School of Law.
In the wake of his passing, there is a profound sense of grief among many, including his family, particularly his father, David Saunders, who owns the Virginia Texas Inn restaurant franchise, as well as the university community.
A memorial service for Jack Saunders took place on November 13 at Brandermill Church, which David Saunders noted was attended by over 700 individuals.
To commemorate Jack Saunders and his contributions, his family has established the Jack Saunders Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Beginning in 2026, this scholarship fund will provide support to future law students. As of the latest reports, it has garnered nearly $25,000 in donations.

The University of Richmond has stated that resources are available for students requiring support within the Law School building. Additionally, flags at the university were flown at half-staff from November 9 to November 11 in honor of Jack Saunders’ memory.
