Jabari Latrell Peoples Obituary, Death; – Additional details have emerged regarding the individual who lost his life during a confrontation with a police officer in Homewood on Monday night.
Jabari Latrell Peoples, an 18-year-old from Aliceville, has been officially recognized as the victim of the incident, which occurred near the Homewood Soccer Park at 9:30 p.m. on Monday. As per the Jefferson County Coroner’s Office, Peoples was shot around 9:30 p.m. and was later transported to UAB Hospital, where he was declared deceased at 10:06 a.m.
The Homewood Police Department confirmed the occurrence of the shooting on Monday night, stating that it began when an officer was dispatched to the park to investigate a suspicious vehicle in the vicinity. A confrontation subsequently took place between Peoples, who was inside the vehicle, and the officer.
According to Homewood police, Peoples allegedly attempted to reach for a firearm, prompting the unidentified officer to discharge his weapon.
The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency is currently looking into the details surrounding the shooting.
