Helmin Ruiz,Trinidad Vasquez Obituary, Death; – The Indiana State Police are conducting an investigation into a crash that resulted in the deaths of two individuals, including a 17-year-old, in Whitley County on Tuesday.
As reported by ISP, troopers were sent to the vicinity of State Road 9 at the intersection with County Road 500 North at 2:40 p.m. in response to the accident. Initial investigations suggest that a blue Dodge Avenger passenger vehicle, which was carrying six occupants, was heading south on SR9 close to CR 500N.
According to ISP, for reasons that remain unclear, the vehicle veered across the center line into the northbound lane, colliding with a black Ford F-350 pickup truck and trailer that were traveling in that lane. The driver of the blue Dodge, 17-year-old Helmin Ruiz from Huntington, along with 40-year-old Trinidad Vasquez, did not survive the incident.
The remaining four passengers in the blue Dodge, identified as 20-year-old Jeremias Vazquez, 35-year-old Rolando Garcia, 59-year-old Jose Mena, and 31-year-old Auara Solano, all from Huntington, were transported to a local hospital for medical attention. ISP reported that their injuries vary from minor to severe.
