Hector Lucatero Obituary, Death; – The California Highway Patrol has identified Hector Lucatero, aged 32, as the individual who suffered fatal injuries on Monday morning after leaving his vehicle parked beside Highway 99 and stepping into the path of an oncoming big-rig.
While it appears that Lucatero may have taken his own life, the CHP has not been able to confirm whether he deliberately walked into the truck’s trajectory. The incident took place at around 9:30 a.m. to the north of Keyes Road.
Emergency responders arrived at the scene and found both a sedan and a big-rig on the right shoulder, with Lucatero also on the right shoulder suffering from severe injuries. He was subsequently transported by ambulance to Doctors Medical Center, where he succumbed to his injuries.
According to investigators from the California Highway Patrol, Lucatero stepped in front of a northbound 2022 Freightliner operated by a 48-year-old man from Moreno Valley, who was in the slow lane. The driver immediately pulled over following the collision.
Lucatero, whose place of origin remains unknown, had driven an Acura coupe to the location.
