Grayson Meyers Obituary, Death;- A teenager from Myrtle Beach lost his life in a shooting incident that occurred over the weekend at Peaches Corner restaurant, as reported by the Horry County Coroner’s Office.

Grayson Meyers, aged 18, was shot by an employee of Peaches late on June 27 at the well-known diner located at the intersection of Ocean Boulevard and 9th Avenue North, according to authorities.

Law enforcement officials stated that Evany McCray, a 17-year-old from Conway, has been charged with murder. McCray is also facing additional charges including assault and battery of a high and aggravated nature, possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime, and possession of a weapon by a minor. He is currently in custody.

At approximately 11:15 p.m., Meyers entered Peaches and had a verbal exchange with McCray, as reported by authorities.

Shortly thereafter, McCray drew a firearm from his waistband and began firing, as explained by Lt. Allen Amick of the Myrtle Beach Police Department during a news conference on June 28. In addition to Meyers, another individual sustained injuries during the shooting.

Officers who were stationed on the boulevard responded promptly and apprehended McCray just 24 seconds after the shooting incident, according to Amick. Authorities have not disclosed whether McCray and Meyers were acquainted or if Meyers was armed at the time.

The police did not provide the total number of shots fired but confirmed that one bullet struck an individual in the crosswalk at Ocean Boulevard and 9th Avenue North. Amick noted that this person was shot in the “lower extremities” and was transported to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening.

Victor Shamah, the operator of Peaches, informed The Post and Courier over the weekend that his staff members are prohibited from bringing weapons to the workplace.
