Fernando Castillo Rodriguez Obituary, Death; Man killed in Oakland nightclub shooting ID’d by family as manager of cookie company

Fernando Castillo Rodriguez Obituary, Death; – The individual who was fatally shot over the weekend at an unlawful nightclub in Oakland has been recognized by his family as the manager of a local cookie and baking business.

Fernando Castillo Rodriguez, whose identity was also confirmed by law enforcement, was the manager of Wooden Table Baking Company, as shared by his cousin on Monday.
The incident took place around 3:45 a.m. on Sunday morning along 85th Avenue.

According to party-goers who spoke to KTVU, the nightclub had been operating without legal authorization for several months. Numerous individuals were restrained with zip ties while police conducted their investigation at the scene of the shooting.

Everlyn Roque mentioned that her cousin, Castillo Rodriguez, was present at the nightclub early Sunday morning but was in the process of leaving to return home when he was shot.

“He was attempting to come back home, but he was unable to reach home,” she stated.
Roque described her cousin as having lived in Oakland since his childhood, sharing fond memories about his life.

“He was like a younger brother to me,” Roque expressed. “He had a passion for metal music. He adored oysters. He was a diligent worker.”

“He was somewhat reserved, but once you engaged him in conversation…” she continued.

At the age of 23, he managed the baking company and collaborated closely with his mother and aunt, Roque noted.

“They interacted with each other daily,” she remarked.

A memorial was observed on Monday near the location of the shooting.
The Oakland Police Department is currently investigating the incident, although they have not disclosed any information regarding a potential suspect or the events leading up to the shooting.
