Eyani Jones,Janiya Jenkins Obituary, Death; – A suspect has been charged with murder in relation to the fatal stabbing of his two sisters in Streamwood last week. Streamwood police reported that Jalonie Jenkins, 25, was apprehended at a Metra station in Downers Grove on Sunday night without any incidents.

According to Streamwood police, Jenkins faces two counts of attempted murder. On Tuesday night, police stated that Jenkins was moved from the Streamwood Police Department to a local hospital for treatment.

Officers were dispatched to the 1600-block of McKool Avenue around 7:50 p.m. on Wednesday, where they discovered the two victims deceased from the stabbing. The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victims as Eyani Jones, 10, and Janiya Jenkins, 21. ABC7 has confirmed that the victims were sisters.

Friends of the victims informed ABC7 that Jalonie Jenkins is the older brother of the two girls.

A nearby neighbor and family friend in Streamwood recounted that she rushed over to investigate when the victims’ 7-year-old brother sought help.

“I called the police, and they were asking me questions like, what’s the address, what happened?” she stated.

The woman, who prefers to remain anonymous, mentioned that her daughter was on the phone with her best friend, Eyani, shortly before 8 p.m. on Wednesday when she heard a loud disturbance in the background.

“She heard the screaming,” the woman explained. “They were on the phone together, and she said, ‘I don’t know what’s happening at Eyani’s house, but can you look out the window?’ Minutes later, Eyani’s younger brother arrived at the neighbor’s door requesting that she call his mother, who was at work.

She complied after going over to witness the chaos that had occurred.
“I walked up the stairs and saw blood and other things everywhere,” she recounted. “I saw the oldest girl lying there, and I saw the little girl laid out. I’m on the phone with the mom, telling her, ‘Oh my God, your kids are gone.'”

This woman’s daughter was the last person to speak with the 10-year-old, who had just started her summer break the previous Thursday.

“I ain’t never witnessed nothing like this,” she said. “At the end of the day, this little girl has spent nights at my house. We even went to hotels together. This is my daughter’s best friend.”

“It’s just heartbreaking and it hurts real bad,” the woman said. “It hurts so bad so bad.” Jasmine Marshall said she was close with 21-year-old victim Janiya Jenkins. She came to the house in Streamwood Thursday afternoon hoping to get more information. “I’m hurt. I’m really hurt,” Marshall said. “She was a really good friend. A good friend.”
