Elijah Ming Obituary, Death; – Community members from both sides of the state line have expressed their support for a fallen Wyandotte County sheriff’s deputy, along with his family and friends.
34-year-old Elijah Ming passed away in the hospital on Saturday afternoon after being shot while on duty. Earlier that day, he had been collaborating with the Kansas City, Kansas, Police Department when a reported domestic violence incident escalated into violence.
Wyandotte County Sheriff Daniel Soptic praised Deputy Ming, referring to him as a cherished member of the department and requesting the community’s prayers.
Kansas City, Kansas, Mayor Tyrone Garner visited Deputy Ming’s family at the hospital. He remarked that this is “truly a painful moment for Wyandotte County, and an extremely painful moment for our community.”
