Derrick Purcell Ahmad McDonald,Mack Samuel Galloway III Obituary, Death; – On March 4, 2025, at approximately 7:00 p.m., law enforcement officers responded to a report of a shooting in the 8100 block of Meade Village Road in Severn. Upon their arrival, they discovered two adult males who appeared to have sustained gunshot wounds. Officers rendered medical assistance until Fire Department personnel arrived, at which point one of the victims, identified as 23-year-old Derrick Purcell Ahmad McDonald from Severn, Maryland, was pronounced dead at the scene.
The second victim, 28-year-old Mack Samuel Galloway III from Glen Burnie, Maryland, was transported to the University of Maryland Baltimore Washington Medical Center, where he was also pronounced deceased.
Additionally, a 26-year-old male sustained injuries from what is believed to be a metal fragment resulting from the gunfire. He was taken to the University of Maryland R Adams Cowley Shock Trauma Center with injuries that were not life-threatening and was not shot.
Officers responding to the scene located a vehicle near Pioneer Drive and Jacobs Road, occupied by two males suspected of involvement in the shooting. The passenger in the vehicle had an apparent gunshot wound and was taken to Bay View Hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening, while the driver was unharmed.
Detectives from the Homicide Unit arrived to take over the investigation. They, along with personnel from the Evidence Collection Unit, gathered multiple items of evidentiary significance from both the crime scene and the vehicle. Several witnesses were also located and interviewed regarding the incident. Although detectives are still working to determine the motive behind the shooting, initial findings suggest that it was a targeted act rather than a random occurrence.
