Deborah Kennedy Obituary, Death; – As various areas in South Florida continue to recover from the tornadoes that occurred on Wednesday, one woman has identified her mother among the many victims of the storms.
Deborah Kennedy moved to St. Lucie County earlier this year, settling in Spanish Lakes Country Club Village, according to reports from CNN. On Wednesday, her community experienced extensive damage as tornadoes swept through the region. Brandi Smith, Kennedy’s daughter, stated that the loss of her 66-year-old mother will leave a profound emptiness in the lives of her children and grandchildren.
Smith also noted that the family plans to return Kennedy’s remains to New York for interment alongside her husband. Spanish Lakes Country Club Village was among several neighborhoods in Fort Pierce and surrounding unincorporated areas that sustained damage when at least two tornadoes struck St. Lucie County.
Emergency Management officials in St. Lucie County are advising the public to avoid traveling on the roads until safety is assured. They warned that unauthorized individuals could hinder critical response and recovery operations.
