David Lynch,Kimberly Lynch Obituary, Death;- A man and woman who died when their pickup truck overturned and caught fire on Interstate 10 near Mecca have been identified.
David Lynch, 68, and Kimberly Lynch, 65, were killed shortly before 10 a.m. Thursday, July 24, west of the Cactus City rest stop, according to the California Highway Patrol. The two Winchester residents were publicly identified Monday.
According to CHP Officer David Torres, a Ford pickup traveling in the No. 2 lane at unconfirmed speeds “made an unsafe turning movement towards the right hand shoulder” and overturned.
The vehicle became engulfed in flames, and both occupants were pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash prompted a partial shutdown of the freeway.
Authorities have not yet determined if alcohol or drugs played a role.
