Ciauta Dunbar Obituary, Death; – The Richland County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identity of the woman who was fatally shot at a local club on Sunday evening.
Coroner Naida Rutherford has identified the deceased as 21-year-old Ciauta Dunbar. The Richland County Sheriff’s Department is currently conducting an investigation into the homicide that took place at Club Space in Columbia.
On Monday afternoon, Joshua Cain, 21, was apprehended and is now facing charges of murder and attempted murder. According to deputies, the altercation that led to the shooting was instigated by a dispute on social media, which escalated outside the club shortly before midnight on Sunday. Emergency responders discovered two individuals who had sustained gunshot wounds and initiated lifesaving measures.
Sheriff Leon Lott reported that one of the victims, a woman, was shot while attempting to intervene in the altercation. She sustained injuries to her upper body and was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim also suffered a gunshot wound to the upper body but remained conscious and alert.
