Celeste Gomez Obituary, Death; – The Phoenix Police Department is seeking assistance in identifying the individual responsible for a fatal hit-and-run that occurred on May 27. At approximately 10 p.m., officers arrived at the scene of a collision near 30th Avenue and Van Buren Street. Upon their arrival, they discovered an unresponsive woman lying in the roadway. She was pronounced dead at the scene and has been identified as 32-year-old Celeste Gomez.
“Detectives arrived at the location and determined that Gomez was trying to cross Van Buren Street outside of any designated crosswalks when a vehicle traveling west struck her. Following the impact, the vehicle continued west on Van Buren Street, fleeing the scene,” stated Phoenix Police Sgt. Brian Bower.
The police have released images of the suspected vehicle involved in the incident, which appears to be a light-colored truck. Anyone with information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact Silent Witness at 480-WITNESS or 480-TESTIGO for Spanish speakers. All tips will be kept confidential, and you may qualify for a reward of $2,000.
