Buford Williams,Benita Williams Obituary, Death; – The Scottsbluff Police Department has confirmed the identities of the two individuals who lost their lives in a two-vehicle collision that occurred on Tuesday.
As reported by the police, the incident took place at the intersection of Highway 26 and Avenue I at approximately 3:30 p.m. A Nissan Versa was making a northward turn onto Avenue I from Highway 26 when it struck a Mazda pickup traveling westbound.
The occupants of the Nissan, identified as Buford Williams, aged 88, and Benita Williams, aged 81, both residents of Scottsbluff, were taken to Regional West Medical Center, where they succumbed to their injuries.
The driver of the Mazda, a 74-year-old man from Mitchell, was rescued from the vehicle and subsequently transported to the hospital with injuries that were not life-threatening. He has since been discharged from the hospital.
It is believed that all individuals involved in the accident were wearing seatbelts. The Scottsbluff Police Department received assistance from the Nebraska State Patrol, the Scotts Bluff County Sheriff’s Office, Valley Ambulance Services, and the Scottsbluff Fire Department.
