Brad Ohlson Obituary, Death; – A man was found dead early Tuesday following a crash in Orleans County. Deputies responded around midnight to a report of a vehicle that caught fire after striking a utility pole on State Route 104 in Ridgeway.
In a release, Sheriff Christopher Bourke said deputies found the vehicle engulfed in flames, with live power lines across the roadway and around the vehicle preventing emergency personnel from reaching it.
Bourke said National Grid workers disconnected power, allowing firefighters to put out the fire. The driver, identified as Brad Ohlson on Batavia, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Bourke said the preliminary investigation found Ohlson was speeding westbound when his vehicle went off the road, hit several fixed objects and overturned before catching fire. The incident damaged utility poles, a mailbox, fencing and a tree.
The crash remains under investigation.
