Armando Morales Obituary, Death; – The district attorney’s office in Orange County has formally charged a student from Santa Ana High School with murder and assault following the fatal stabbing of a 14-year-old classmate during an altercation after school, which also resulted in injuries to two other students.
The 15-year-old suspect, whose identity is withheld due to his minor status, faces two additional counts of assault with a deadly weapon for allegedly stabbing the other two classmates earlier in the week. The teenager and his 17-year-old brother surrendered to law enforcement on Wednesday, shortly after the tragic event occurred outside Santa Ana High School, as reported by authorities.
Santa Ana Police Officer Natalie Garcia stated that the brothers were interrogated by investigators before being taken to juvenile hall for booking, with the 17-year-old remaining in custody. The incident transpired at 3:25 p.m. on Wednesday, when officers from Santa Ana School Police reported a stabbing incident that took place during a fight in front of the school. Paramedics transported at least three male students, aged 14, 15, and 16, to a hospital with stab wounds.
Prosecutors indicated that the deceased 14-year-old, identified as Armando Morales from Santa Ana, suffered a fatal stab wound to the heart. His family has initiated a GoFundMe campaign to cover funeral costs. Misael Morales, Armando’s brother, described him on the fundraising page as a joyful and intelligent young man known for his ability to bring laughter to others. Jazmin Delgado, the victim’s cousin, reiterated these sentiments in an interview with KABC-TV, stating, ‘He was just always a happy kid and always loved to help and was just an amazing little kid.’
Armando’s family expressed that he was a victim of circumstance, asserting that he was attempting to assist his friends when he was attacked. The cause of the altercation is still under investigation by police, who claim that, with the exception of the victim, those involved in the fight had gang affiliations.
