Antonio Conrad Obituary, Death; – A man lost his life after being struck by a vehicle on Interstate 471 early Sunday morning, as reported by the Newport Police Department.
The event took place around 3:40 a.m. while heading north on the bridge, when the individual, identified by the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office as Antonio Conrad, 36, moved to the far-right lane to help a driver and passenger whose car had broken down, according to police.
In the process of assisting the disabled vehicle, a third car collided with the rear of Conrad’s vehicle, causing it to be pushed into both him and the stranded car, investigators stated.
Newport police confirmed that Conrad succumbed to his injuries after being transported to the University of Cincinnati Hospital. The passenger was also admitted to the hospital with a spinal cord injury, while the driver sustained minor injuries.
Criminal charges may be pursued as Newport police indicate they are examining possible contributing factors related to the accident.
