Angela Dawn Loupe Obituary, Death; – A representative for the Rutherford County school system has confirmed that a man charged in a fatal accident over the weekend was employed by the district.
The Metro Nashville Police Department charged 28-year-old John Baudendistel with vehicular homicide on Sunday. He was involved in a collision with three other vehicles on I-24 East near the Bell Road exit ramp. A 51-year-old woman lost her life in the accident. She has been identified as Angela Dawn Loupe, from Murfreesboro.
Officers at the scene determined that Baudendistel was under the influence during their questioning. He confessed to consuming alcohol prior to driving, and officers discovered an open alcoholic beverage in the center console of his Nissan Rogue, as stated in the report.
Rutherford County Schools confirmed that Baudendistel served as a band director at La Vergne Middle School and had been with the district since August 2023.
Detectives suspect that two other vehicles were involved in the initial crash, and the 51-year-old woman slowed her vehicle to avoid them when Baudendistel rear-ended her Nissan Sentra.
The other drivers involved in the first collision left the scene, and it is believed that alcohol was also a contributing factor. Baudendistel posted bail and was released from jail later on Sunday. He is set to appear in court on August 8.
The investigation into the accident is still ongoing.
