Andrew Williams Obituary, Death; – The Charleston County Coroner’s Office has confirmed the identity of the individual who was shot by police during a service call on Thursday morning in downtown Charleston.
Andrew Williams, aged 37, succumbed to his injuries at the Medical University of South Carolina at 10:47 a.m. due to a gunshot wound, as reported by the coroner.
According to the Charleston Police Department, officers were dispatched to the intersection of King and Line Streets following reports of a physical altercation between two men.
During the incident, one of the individuals involved brandished a firearm. In response, two officers discharged their weapons, resulting in the fatal shooting of one of the men, as stated by the police. The South Carolina Law Enforcement Division has been called to conduct an investigation, which is standard procedure for all incidents involving police gunfire.
