Anabel Marie Ramirez Obituary, Death, – The 12-year-old girl who tragically lost her life in a collision last Friday evening has been identified as Anabel Marie Ramirez, a resident of Bakersfield.
As reported by the Kern County coroner, the incident occurred at approximately 7:24 p.m. Anabel was a passenger in a Honda that was struck by a Chevrolet at the intersection of South Union Avenue and Hosking Avenue. The driver of the Chevrolet, who collided with the vehicle carrying Anabel and an 11-year-old boy, has been arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Anabel was transported to Kern Medical, where she subsequently passed away. The 11-year-old boy sustained serious injuries, and his current condition remains unknown. Bakersfield police indicated that excessive speed and alcohol were likely contributing factors to the accident.
An investigation conducted by the Bakersfield Police Department revealed that the Chevrolet was traveling northbound on South Union Avenue while the Honda was attempting to make a left turn into the northbound lanes at the time of the collision.
The police determined that the driver of the Chevrolet was allegedly under the influence of alcohol and has been arrested on charges related to DUI, reckless driving, and gross vehicular manslaughter. The identity of the driver has not been disclosed by law enforcement at this time.
