Alesia Ventura-Large,Nancy Pilsch Obituary, Death; – Two women from Massachusetts have tragically lost their lives following a camper explosion at Old Orchard Beach in Maine over the weekend.
The explosion occurred around 12:30 p.m. on Saturday at the Powder Horn Campground located on Cascade Road.
Emergency services from Old Orchard Beach responded and discovered two women with severe burn injuries. Both individuals were transported to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where officials reported that they succumbed to their injuries on Sunday.
The deceased have been identified as 58-year-old Alesia Ventura-Large from Marlborough and 58-year-old Nancy Pilsch from Leominster.
The fire resulting from the explosion was promptly extinguished, and the Maine State Fire Marshal’s Office was summoned to investigate the incident due to its serious nature. The investigation is currently ongoing, but preliminary findings suggest that liquid propane gas had been leaking into and beneath the camper. It is believed that the gas ignited when one of the camper’s occupants lit a candle.
The fire marshal’s office indicated that their investigation will involve a more detailed analysis of the gas systems, with support from the Maine Solid Fuel Inspectors.
