Alejandro El Potrillo Castillo Andrade Obituary, Death; – A well-known radio figure tragically lost his life in a traffic accident over the weekend in Calera.

Shelby County Coroner Lina Evans confirmed the deceased as Alejandro “El Potrillo” Castillo Andrade, a 34-year-old resident of Montevallo.

Castillo was a cherished personality within Birmingham’s Spanish-speaking community and previously worked at El Jefe Radio. He was also an emcee for various local events and established La Chula 97.5 in Shelby County. The station expressed its sorrow on Facebook, stating, “We are navigating through these challenging times filled with immense grief.”

He is survived by his wife and two young daughters. The collision, involving two vehicles, occurred shortly after 6 a.m. on Saturday in the 3000 block of County Road 12. Chief David Hyche reported that officers arrived to find Castillo deceased at the scene.

An investigation is currently being conducted by the Calera Police Department’s Traffic Homicide Unit, the Shelby County Traffic Homicide Task Force, and the Shelby County Coroner’s Office.
