Akili Nix Obituary, Death; – Authorities are pursuing new leads in the fatal hit-and-run incident that occurred on Thanksgiving in the South Wedge area of the city.
The victim has been identified as 45-year-old Akili Nix from Rochester. He was discovered lying in the center of Gregory Street around 3 a.m. on Thursday after being struck by a vehicle that subsequently left the scene, as reported by law enforcement officials. With assistance from the community, investigators have established that Nix, who later succumbed to his injuries at Strong Memorial Hospital, was hit by a dark-colored 2015 Nissan Altima.
Police indicated that it is possible the driver was unaware of having collided with an individual. Currently, no suspects are in custody.
