Aaron D Esters Jr Obituary, Death; – The identity of a Louisville teenager who succumbed to injuries sustained in a shooting outside a high school football game has been disclosed. The Jefferson County Coroner confirmed the identity of 17-year-old Aaron D. Esters, Jr. from Louisville on Friday. He passed away on Tuesday after being in critical condition since his admission to the hospital nine days prior.
A relative informed WDRB that he was a student at Valley High School. On Thursday, Valley’s principal, Jennie Currin, communicated with families through a letter acknowledging the loss of a student, although the letter did not specify the student’s name.
“As you may know, one of our students has passed away,” Currin stated. “Our heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with the family during this challenging time. We are grateful to them for allowing us to be part of the student’s life.”
The letter provided contact details for JCPS counselors and resources from mental health organizations to assist families in coping with grief and loss in an age-appropriate manner. The teenager died nine days following a double shooting that occurred on Sunday, September 29, outside a football game featuring Pleasure Ridge Park and Male High Schools.
Another juvenile was also injured in the incident and sought treatment at UofL Health – Mary and Elizabeth Hospital that same night; however, his injuries were not considered life-threatening.
