Justin Mason Obituary, Death; – A man from Monmouth lost his life on Sunday evening in a collision involving two vehicles on U.S. Route 202, as reported by officials.

Justin Mason, aged 28, was pronounced dead at the scene following the impact of his black 2002 Chevrolet pickup truck with a 2015 Dodge Durango operated by 41-year-old Mariah St. Laurent from Leeds. The incident occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of Route 202 and Royal Street, according to a news release issued by the Winthrop Police Department.

Mason was traveling westbound while St. Laurent was heading eastbound and preparing to make a left turn when the two vehicles collided.

A passenger in Mason’s vehicle was transported to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston with life-threatening injuries, while St. Laurent was taken to MaineGeneral Medical Center in Augusta with injuries that were not life-threatening. The intersection remained closed for several hours as emergency responders and law enforcement attended to the scene.

The Winthrop Police Department, along with the Monmouth Police Department and Maine State Police, is currently investigating the incident. The news release indicated that the Kennebec County district attorney has been informed about the crash. Authorities are urging anyone with information regarding the incident to contact them at 377-7226.
