Vasilios Safos Obituary, Death; – Lakewood authorities are conducting an investigation following the fatal incident involving a 58-year-old man who was struck by a vehicle on Wednesday evening.
As reported by the Lakewood police, the event occurred at approximately 6:11 p.m. when the pedestrian, identified as Vasilios Safos, was attempting to cross Madison Avenue outside of a designated crosswalk near Orchard Grove Avenue. During the crossing, it is stated that Safos was hit by a vehicle traveling in a westbound direction.
The victim was subsequently transported to Fairview Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Lakewood police confirmed that the driver of the vehicle remained at the scene of the incident. The vehicle was towed, and the driver was released after providing a statement to the officers, as per police reports. Currently, the investigation into the incident is ongoing.
