Alexandra Diehl Arrested; – A hit-and-run incident on Wednesday night led to the fatality of a pedestrian on Northcrest Drive. The identity of the pedestrian, who was struck by a 2019 Nissan Rogue while crossing in a designated crosswalk near East Madison Avenue, is being withheld pending notification of next of kin, as reported by the California Highway Patrol in Crescent City.

The driver of the Nissan Rogue, identified as Alexandra Diehl, allegedly fled the scene following the collision with the pedestrian, according to CHP. Shortly thereafter, a Toyota 4-Runner traveling north collided with the pedestrian’s metal shopping cart. Officials noted that a third vehicle, a white Kia, attempted to avoid the pedestrian lying in the roadway but was unsuccessful. The driver of the Kia remained at the scene until law enforcement arrived.

According to CHP, the pedestrian was transported to Sutter Coast Hospital in critical condition and unfortunately succumbed to his injuries shortly after 9 p.m.

At 8:35 p.m., law enforcement located the Nissan Rogue and identified Diehl as the driver. Officials stated that Diehl was subsequently taken into custody on charges of felony hit-and-run and vehicular manslaughter. Authorities are requesting that anyone with further information regarding the incident contact the Crescent City CHP office at (707) 218-2000.
