Jon Carlos Blancarcer,Hector Sajo Obituary, Death; – Two of the three individuals who lost their lives in a mass shooting in the Gage Park neighborhood of Chicago have been named by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s office.

The deceased, a 28-year-old and a 26-year-old man, were among eight individuals shot inside a residence on the Southwest Side of Chicago. They have been identified as Jon Carlos Blancarcer and Hector Sajo, respectively. The identity of the third victim remains undisclosed. Authorities reported that the eight victims were aged between 20 and 35 years.

The shooting occurred around 2:10 p.m. on Monday near the intersection of West 59th Street and South St. Louis Avenue, leaving many questions about the incident unanswered hours later.

According to officials, all eight individuals were attending a gathering at a home located in the 3500 block of West 59th Street.

Responding to a report of a shooting in the vicinity, officers found four men and four women had sustained gunshot wounds, as stated by Chicago Police Department Chief of Patrol John Hein.

A witness described the scene as chaotic, stating, “I just heard like, screaming. People like running out the house, screaming.” The details surrounding the shooting remained ambiguous late Monday as the police continued their investigation. Authorities indicated that they had previously responded to multiple calls at the residence where the shooting took place, although the nature of those calls has not been disclosed.

“On behalf of the entire city, I want to extend my condolences to everyone impacted by the mass shooting that took place in Gage Park,” stated Chicago Mayor Brandon Johnson. “We as a city are praying and grieving for all the victims, survivors, and their families. There is no place in our city for senseless acts of violence. My office will remain in close contact with CPD to ensure all those responsible are held accountable.”

As of Monday evening, police had not released any information regarding potential suspects, and detectives were actively interviewing witnesses in their efforts to identify those responsible.
