Christopher Santana Obituary, Death; – On Monday afternoon, a 25-year-old man from New Haven was shot and subsequently succumbed to his injuries, according to police reports.
At approximately 3:30 PM, law enforcement was dispatched to a parking lot on George Street near Winthrop Avenue following multiple 911 calls indicating that an individual had been shot. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim, later identified as Christopher Santana, with a bystander performing CPR.
The man was unresponsive, and police continued the resuscitation efforts until an ambulance arrived to transport him to the Yale-New Haven Hospital York Street campus, where he later died from his injuries, as stated by the police.
Officer Christian Bruckhart, a spokesperson for the police, confirmed that Santana’s family has been informed of his passing. Bruckhart further reported that detectives have established that Santana had driven a friend to the rear of 730 George Street when they were confronted by two masked individuals. One of the assailants suddenly shot Santana before both suspects fled the scene on foot.
While investigators have not yet determined a motive for the shooting, Bruckhart indicated that the preliminary investigation suggests it is an isolated incident.
