Karl Andrew Stanley Arrested; – A man is facing a charge of capital murder following the death of a woman during an attempted burglary in Celina. Celina police reported that at approximately 3:15 p.m. on Monday, officers responded to a call regarding a burglary in progress at a residence located on the 3000 block of Seattle Slew Drive.
Upon arrival, officers discovered a woman who had been assaulted, with her alleged assailant still present in the home. Authorities stated that the man was apprehended, while the woman received first aid; however, she succumbed to her injuries before reaching a hospital.
During the investigation, it was revealed that the man and woman were acquainted, but he had unlawfully entered the residence and assaulted her. The identity of the woman has not yet been disclosed. The suspect has been identified as 53-year-old Karl Andrew Stanley. Law enforcement has not provided a motive for the assault nor any information regarding the nature of the relationship between Stanley and the victim.
Stanley has been booked into the Collin County Jail, facing charges of capital murder by terroristic threat and stalking. He is currently held on bonds amounting to $1.5 million. It remains unclear whether he has secured legal representation. The investigation by Celina police is still ongoing.
