Jeffrey Allen Blue Obituary, Death; – The Ogden City Police Department conducted a press conference on Tuesday afternoon to provide further information regarding a fatal shooting involving one of its officers during an alleged domestic incident that took place over the weekend. Police Chief Jacob Sube confirmed the identity of the deceased as 45-year-old Jeffrey Allen Blue.

The shooting transpired on Sunday around noon when officers responded to a request from a woman seeking police assistance to maintain peace while she collected her belongings from her residence in the 900 block of 1050 North Street.

Chief Sube indicated that Blue, who was the estranged husband of the woman, initially exhibited confrontational and uncooperative behavior. As a result, the first responding officer called for backup and awaited the arrival of a second officer before proceeding.

Once the officers and the woman entered the residence, Blue reportedly displayed “angry and confrontational” conduct. “During the encounter, Mr. Blue made a remark about obtaining a gun. He then suddenly moved further into the home and retrieved what appeared to be a handgun,” Sube informed the media.

At that moment, one of the officers discharged his service weapon, striking Blue. According to Sube, the officers present rendered first aid to Blue until medical personnel arrived; however, he was ultimately pronounced dead at the scene.

The Weber County Critical Incident Team is currently investigating the incident, and Sube noted that it was determined the item retrieved by Blue was a replica firearm designed to closely mimic a real weapon.

“While this finding clarifies the nature of the object, it does not lessen the complexity and seriousness of the situation faced by the officer at that time,” Sube stated on Tuesday. “Officers frequently must make life-or-death decisions in mere seconds, under significant stress, and in dynamic, unpredictable environments. This incident underscores the considerable challenges law enforcement encounters in protecting the public while ensuring their own safety and that of others.” The officers involved in the incident are currently under review.
