Devin Lewis Obituary, Death; – Authorities have confirmed the identity of the individual who was fatally shot during an incident involving law enforcement in Springfield.
Elijah Ayers, a representative of the Hampden District Attorney’s Office, reported that a 911 call was received at approximately 1 a.m. on Thursday regarding an incident in the 0-100 block of Lyman Street. Upon the arrival of the police, they encountered the individual referenced in the 911 call, 24-year-old Devin Lewis from Springfield, who was positioned at the entrance of an apartment building armed with two firearms.
“Due to circumstances that are still being investigated, two officers discharged their service weapons, resulting in one officer hitting the 24-year-old, causing him injury,” Ayers stated.
Medical assistance was rendered by the officers at the scene. Lewis was subsequently transported to a local hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. The investigation into the incident is ongoing, being conducted by the District Attorney’s office in collaboration with the Springfield Police Department.
